And P-Bird emerged! What? Yes, really! It is a rule of nature. That is how hybrids emerge. And it runs across all species known and even those that are as yet unknown (according to a recent news article, 99% of world’s species have not been discovered!). We were at the Ohio State zoo in Columbus recently, and came across a beautiful addition - a ze-horse. That’s right…. a beautiful animal that was half zebra, half horse. So, half the body was striped and the other half was white. It was a pretty sight, and left the kids with open-mouthed admiration.

Immigration causes hybrids too! How? It is a bit like strawberry milk shake. Take strawberry syrup; add it to pure milk. The result is neither the syrup nor the milk. But something new and different from the original parts. And it is impossible to separate one from the other. Immigration is kind of like that as well. When Mexican (or Indian, or Chinese or whosoever, born and colored in their own society, say A) moves to the US (or Germany or Australia or wherever, say B), he acquires lots more than what he started from, in terms of knowledge, thinking, lifestyle, conditioning, realizations and so on. And when anyone from B interacts with anyone from A, he walks away with something more than the pre-interaction status. And viola! A P-Bird is born! Now you can NOT bring either A or B to their previous unchanged states. Isn’t that how hybrids are formed?

While there are external manifestations of this move, what goes on inside an immigrant’s brain? Find out here tomorrow.

Hope you have a brainilicious day!
Ms P-Brain!
